The Contra Costa Ballet Foundation offers Scholarships to Young Dancers. Jo Tao Memorial Scholarship Competition Sunday, June 14 - 2:00 - 4:00. Students who are between the ages of 13 and 18 and who are at intermediate and advanced levels in ballet are invited to compete for scholarships offered by the Contra Costa Ballet Foundation. The competition will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 14 at the Contra Costa Ballet Centre at 2040 N. Broadway, Walnut Creek. Winners will receive partial to full scholarships for a year of training at the Contra Costa Ballet Centre beginning in the fall of 2009. Students will be judged on their class work and a classical or contemporary dance solo of their choice by Patricia Perez of the San Francisco Ballet and Zola Dishong and Richard Cammack, Artistic Directors of the Contra Costa Ballet. Rachel's Ballet is auditioning students for enrollment into the Royal Academy of Dance professional training program. For consideration into the program students should be at least 11 years old with a minimum of two years ballet training. Ballet San Jose School is offering free boys class this summer for new students. For boys who have always wanted to give dancing a try this is the opportunity! Classes will take place Monday through Friday, 10:00 11:00 a.m. for 5 to 7 year olds and 11:10 a.m. 12:10 p.m. for 8 years and up. Both classes will be taught by company member and school ballet instructor, Mads Eriksen (see Mr. Eriksens bio here: http://www.balletsanjose.org/dancers/meriksen.htm). No previous dance experience necessary.
The required dress code is a plain white t-shirt (not too long, or baggy must fit well), black shorts, white socks, and black or white ballet shoes.

Scholarships & GrantsMoving Arts DanceMoving Arts Dance is offering scholarships to advanced dancers who wish to perform with Moving Arts II. It is a comprehensive training program that features both ballet and modern dance, partnering, improvisation, repertory and choreography. Classes are taught by Michael Lowe, Anandha Ray, Holly Morrow and Adam Aicher. MA II members on occasion have the opportunity to perform and tour with Moving Arts Dance.
